Salvia Sessions

I offer free 15 minute consultations by phone or zoom. If we determine that Salvia is a good fit, the next step is a 50 minute intake session in which we discuss what you’d like to explore with Salvia, any questions or reservations you might have, and gain a deeper understanding of how we might work best together.

For those new to Salvia, and even those who have never had a psychedelic experience, I recommend a slow and gentle protocol of smoked Salvia extract. These four to five measured doses, spaced 10-15 minutes apart, produce very little smoke and are extremely gentle on the throat, lungs, and body. You may not even feel like you’re smoking anything! If you’d like to go deeper after that gentle introduction, we can increase the dose, which will produce more smoke and greater effect. These deeper experiences are still considered “low-dose,” and are not nearly as intense as the high dose experiences that many have heard about or have seen online.

I plan Salvia sessions to last for two hours. Upon arrival, we will settle in and talk about intentions, expectations, anxieties, and anything else on your mind.

Salvia can be experienced sitting up or laying down, and the client gets a feel for how they’d like to be positioned once they start the experience. There is generally no music playing, and we take measures to make the space as still and silent as possible. Blankets and pillows are very comforting during and after the experience.

Often, the first dose produces little or no effect, especially for new users. The next couple doses can induce a gentle but deep meditative state, with a comfortable and manageable psychedelic effect. Subsequent doses bring you deeper into the experience, but are not overwhelming. This titration method gives the client a level of control and autonomy in the experience and allows them to optimize the session for their personal needs and comfort levels.

Integration can happen immediately in-session, and additional integration sessions can be planned in the following days. I have found low-dose Salvia to integrate very naturally and efficiently, even between doses during the session.

One of my favorite parts of working with this plant is how quickly it empowers people to continue working with it on their own outside of therapy. If you benefit from the therapeutic use of low-dose Salvia, you only need a couple in-office sessions to get a lay of the land, and can start working with it safely on your own after that.
